Roles & privileges
The five roles, what each can do, and how to create per-user overrides.
Every Nomow user has a role that defines their baseline access. The Privileges screen lets admins and owners tighten or expand individual permissions on top of that baseline.
Open Privileges in the sidebar (Settings section).
The five roles
| Role | Who it's for |
|---|---|
| Owner | The account holder. Sees and can do everything. Only one user can be the owner at a time. Owner permissions are locked — they cannot be edited. |
| Admin | Trusted managers who need full access to settings, users, and billing. Admins can do everything except transfer ownership. |
| Manager | Team leads who manage contacts, pipeline, campaigns, and can see analytics, but cannot change workspace settings or manage other users. |
| Agent | Day-to-day sales reps. Can work contacts, log activities, and submit forms, but cannot access settings, analytics, or team management. |
| Viewer | Read-only. Can see contacts, deals, and the dashboard but cannot create, edit, or delete anything. |
The Privileges matrix
The matrix shows every permission key as a row and each role as a column. A checked cell means that role has the permission by default.
Permission keys include, among others:
view_dashboard— see the Dashboard screenmanage_contacts/manage_companies— create, edit, and merge recordsdelete_contacts— permanently delete CRM recordsmanage_pipeline— create and edit deals and pipeline stagesmanage_forms/manage_pages— build and publish forms and landing pagesmanage_brand— edit Design System tokensmanage_domains— add and verify custom domainsmanage_users— invite, edit, and remove team membersmanage_settings— access workspace settings and integrationsview_activity_log— see the workspace audit log
Owner cells are always checked and cannot be unchecked.
Per-user overrides
Below the matrix is a per-user override panel. Use it when one person needs a permission their role does not include — or needs one removed.
Type a name or email in the override search box. Their row appears with their current role and effective permissions.
Check or uncheck any permission cell for that user. An override is shown with a distinct indicator so it's easy to see which cells deviate from the role default.
Overrides take effect immediately. The user sees the updated sidebar and access state on their next action — no sign-out required.
What happens when access is denied
When a user tries to reach a screen they don't have permission for, Nomow shows a permission-denied state — a lock icon with a message identifying the missing permission key and a suggestion to contact an owner. No blank screen, no error banner.
